Size & Features

The story of Globe-Trotter starts in Dresden, Germany with a company called ‘Sächesische Kofferfabrik Stabilist’ (The Stabilist Saxon Trunk Manufactory).  Founded by Friedrich Jone & Co. in 1898, there is evidence to show that the company had been making luggage from vulcanised fibreboard since at least 1897.

In 1900, the company acquired the English patent for the production method using ‘Vulcan Fibre’.  The unique material’s elasticity, tenacity and light-weight properties made it ideal for manufacturing suitcases and trunks and the products quickly became popular further afield, including Great Britain.

The ‘North Star’ logo – three quarters of a compass dial – was registered as a trademark for Globe-Trotter in 1901 and has been embossed onto the end of every suitcase ever since.

The Original range is a continuation of Globe-Trotter’s very first 1897 model.  Available in classic Brown or Navy in a range of different sizes, the collection features traditional vulcanised fibreboard corners and offers our customers a classic piece of luggage at an entry-level price point.
