To celebrate the launch of its latest Tokyo boutique this month, Globe-Trotter has collaborated with award-winning designer Yohji Yamamoto on a typically maverick collection.
Yohji Yamamoto burst onto the global fashion scene in the early 1980s with his inaugural fashion collection making its debut on the Paris catwalk. It was a decade when ostentation and decadence were in vogue, and the Tokyo-born designer’s bold, unconventional aesthetic and minimalist style sent shockwaves throughout the fashion world.
Yamamoto’s eponymous line is characterised by oversized, unstructured silhouettes, which challenge traditional perceptions of beauty and femininity. His clothing is unique, effortlessly stylish and beloved by fashion rebels worldwide.
To celebrate the launch of a new boutique in the Isetan Shinjuku store in Tokyo, Globe-Trotter has collaborated with Yamamoto on a new limited-edition suitcase. The Discord Yohji Yamamoto collection embodies the hallmarks of Globe-Trotter’s iconic aesthetic and traditional craftsmanship in the designer’s trademark black, punctuated with silver studs. The inside lid reveals a striking graffiti-style artwork depicting printed logos and a female silhouette. It’s a work of understated elegance with a rebellious twist – in other words, pure Yohji Yamamoto.
The Discord Yohji Yamamoto collection is available exclusively from the new Globe-Trotter concession at Isetan Shinjuku.
