The Safari Steamer Home Trunk in Ivory and Natural brings a lighter, more relaxed expression of Globe-Trotter’s travel heritage into the home. Drawing on the spirit of exploration that defines the Safari collection, it reimagines the historic steamer trunk as a refined interior piece, balancing timeless craftsmanship with a warm and understated palette.
Handcrafted in England, this luxury home trunk is constructed from Globe-Trotter’s signature vulcanised fibreboard and finished with natural leather details and gold-tone hardware. The soft Ivory exterior creates an elegant sense of lightness, while the natural leather develops its own distinctive character over time, bringing warmth and individuality to the trunk’s refined silhouette.
Designed to bring both beauty and purpose to living rooms, bedrooms, dressing spaces and studies, the Steamer Home Trunk offers generous storage for cashmere, fine linens, books, keepsakes and possessions collected over time. Its reinforced lid supports everyday use within the home, allowing the trunk to sit naturally within an interior as both a practical storage piece and an expression of Globe-Trotter’s enduring spirit of travel.
Inside, a richly striped woven lining introduces a vivid contrast to the understated exterior, combining warm shades of red, orange and earthy tones to create a characterful and inviting interior. A removable wooden tray, wrapped in the same high-quality woven lining used in Globe-Trotter suitcases, provides an elegant upper layer for organising smaller belongings while bringing together colour, craftsmanship and considered functionality.

Vulcanised Fibreboard
Each case is made from Globe-Trotter’s proprietary Vulcanised Fibreboard, composed of 14 layers of recycled paper, cotton, and wood pulp from sustainable forests. The layers are bonded with zinc and compressed using steam and pressure. This results in a material that is exceptionally lightweight and strong, offering durability for a lifetime of travel while remaining easy to carry. We use this material for its unique balance of strength and lightness, which is exclusive to Globe-Trotter.
Vegetable-Tanned Leather
All leather elements, including the hand-moulded corners, trims, handles and fastening details, are made from vegetable-tanned hide. This traditional tanning method uses only natural plant extracts to create leather of exceptional strength and character. Over time, it develops a rich patina, ensuring that every case becomes ever more individual with each journey.
Ethical Sourcing
All leathers are ethically sourced. We partner only with suppliers who uphold high standards of animal welfare and environmental responsibility. This ensures full traceability and a commitment to sustainable production.
Internal Tray and Compartments
The interior features a removable wooden tray, complete with a structured handle and reinforced supports, combining practical organisation with refined craftsmanship.
Handles
Handles are constructed from a blend of bonded leather and reinforcement materials, pressed for 48 hours before hand assembly. This method provides both comfort in the hand and long-term durability, making every journey effortless.
Lining
The interior is lined with a finely woven cotton or cotton-blend fabric, selected for its soft touch, strength, and complementary aesthetic.
Locks and Hardware
Locks and hardware are precision-engineered from carbon steel or solid brass, then finished in gold, chrome, or signature tones. Each piece is chosen for its security, durability, and ease of use.
