The Steamer Home Trunk in Navy and Red offers a precise, structured expression of Globe-Trotter’s design language. Inspired by the brand’s historic steamer trunks, it transforms a silhouette once created for long-distance travel into a refined storage piece designed for the modern home.
Handcrafted in England, this made-to-order trunk is constructed from Globe-Trotter’s signature vulcanised fibreboard and finished with red leather details and chrome hardware. The deep navy exterior creates a strong, elegant foundation, while the red accents bring a confident note of contrast without disturbing the trunk’s composed character.
Designed for living rooms, studies, bedrooms and dressing spaces, the Steamer Home Trunk offers considered storage for books, ritual objects, personal archives and possessions collected over time. Its reinforced lid supports everyday use within an interior, allowing the piece to function as both practical storage and a distinctive object of design.
Inside, the trunk is lined with a finely woven cotton fabric featuring an intricate paisley motif, introducing pattern, depth and a subtle decorative flourish. A removable wooden tray, wrapped in the same high-quality woven lining used in Globe-Trotter suitcases, creates a refined upper layer for smaller belongings, balancing practical organisation with the quiet pleasure of a beautifully finished interior.

Vulcanised Fibreboard
Each case is made from Globe-Trotter’s proprietary Vulcanised Fibreboard, composed of 14 layers of recycled paper, cotton, and wood pulp from sustainable forests. The layers are bonded with zinc and compressed using steam and pressure. This results in a material that is exceptionally lightweight and strong, offering durability for a lifetime of travel while remaining easy to carry. We use this material for its unique balance of strength and lightness, which is exclusive to Globe-Trotter.
Vegetable-Tanned Leather
All leather elements, including the hand-moulded corners, trims, handles and fastening details, are made from vegetable-tanned hide. This traditional tanning method uses only natural plant extracts to create leather of exceptional strength and character. Over time, it develops a rich patina, ensuring that every case becomes ever more individual with each journey.
Ethical Sourcing
All leathers are ethically sourced. We partner only with suppliers who uphold high standards of animal welfare and environmental responsibility. This ensures full traceability and a commitment to sustainable production.
Internal Tray and Compartments
The interior features a removable wooden tray, complete with a structured handle and reinforced supports, combining practical organisation with refined craftsmanship.
Handles
Handles are constructed from a blend of bonded leather and reinforcement materials, pressed for 48 hours before hand assembly. This method provides both comfort in the hand and long-term durability, making every journey effortless.
Lining
The interior is lined with a finely woven cotton or cotton-blend fabric, selected for its soft touch, strength, and complementary aesthetic.
Locks and Hardware
Locks and hardware are precision-engineered from carbon steel or solid brass, then finished in gold, chrome, or signature tones. Each piece is chosen for its security, durability, and ease of use.
